She’s black mother-angel
the African woman
she stands as high as everest
ebony is she in complexion
her dreadlocks down to her shoulders
she guards and never rest
beauty she exudes as the palm fruit.
This is black mother-angel
her enchanting eyes blazes
like a thousand suns
we sit here chanting her praises
whom we eulogize we her sons
she’s black mother-angel
her dreadlocks down to her shoulders
sword drawn and unsheated
thirsty for their blood when we are cheated
hungry for the flesh of their soldiers
eager is she to defend we her offspring.
This is black mother-angel
lamb is she to her children
but to her enemies a lioness
she’s the dualed-natured mother
she takes up the wing of an eagle
to fly in vigilance around her children.
She’s black mother-angel
the African spirit of oneness.
She takes up immortality and absence
to be a perpetual guardian of her scion
with zeal she never feels tired
with jealousy she orders every of their steps
she’s a faithful mother.
This poem is for the memory of my lovely mother
,a woman who truelly loved with her heart.
May her soul dwell in etenal light.
